D.W. Evans – Conductor

The Musical Herald of 1896 carried an article about D.W. Evans who came to Huddersfield in 1882 as Superintendent of Singing in Board Schools. The following year he joined Huddersfield choral society as a bass singer. The account of his work described in this article is sufficient to show how and why Huddersfield, which never had been short of up and coming young singers, was well able to feed the ranks of local choirs which were growing both in size and numbers.

DW Evans was also an adjudicator at the first Mrs. Sunderland competition in 1889.
