HENRY BEAUMONT was a famous Tenor singer of the period. He studied under Joshua Marshall who was a well-known singing teacher in Huddersfield and later with Luigi Caracciolo in Dublin. Beaumont first appeared at a festival concert to mark the opening of the new Huddersfield Town Hall and shortly afterwards he became principle tenor at Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin. He sang in grand opera at Drury Lane, London and later joined the Carl Rosa Company and subsequently the Burns-Cotty Opera Company as principal tenor.
With Mr William Ludwig’s concert Party in 1888 he visited the USA for the first of three tours. In 1900 he appeared at the Bristol Festival to mark the re-opening of the Colston Hall and in 1906 sang at the Hereford Festival. With the Carl Rosa and National Grand Opera companies he sang at the Harrogate, North Devon, King’s Lynn and Kendal Festivals.
He married soprano singer Adelaide Mullen in Ireland and she sang in Shepley at a concert in 1897 when both she and Henry were members of Arthur Rousbys Opera Company.
