The unofficial leader of the choir is Laura Dukes-Beatty, who has chosen the current repertoire and has helped the younger members to build on their confidence so that they will be able to sing in front of large audiences. There are five members of the choir, all of whom play in the band; Laura Dukes-Beatty (flute) sings soprano, Sophie Hill (clarinet) sings alto and tenor, Hannah Kirk (flute) sings alto, Catherine Oversby (clarinet) sings soprano and alto and Aisha Siraj (cornet) sings alto.

The choir first sang for an audience at the Shepley Band 2010 Christmas concert.

The choir practises every Friday, in Shepley Methodist Church, from 7.30pm to 9.00pm while the band has their sectional rehearsals.

If you wish to join the choir it is preferred that you first join the band but come along to a rehearsal for an audition. As long as you can sing somewhat in tune a place in the choir is almost guaranteed as it is a small choir in need of members.

Please note this is a youth choir for under 21’s only.
